Unleash The Beast – Review Of Bathmate Hydromax X40 Xtreme Penis Pump

In the world of penis pumps, there is a big difference between the quality and value of some products. When Bathmate first came out with their products a few years ago, I could tell just by looking at them that they were in a different ball park altogether.

Bathmate was the first product of its kind to use water instead of air to pump with. A very novel idea, and one that makes the Hydromax pumps very comfortable to use and allows for more powerful suction. Of course, the Hydromax can be used with air as well, but if you had the choice, why would you?

The Bathmate Hydromax X40 Xtreme Penis Pump comes with a Value Accessories Pack which includes: Carry Case with Security Lock, Measuring Gauge, Cleaning Kit, Bathmate Towel and Sponge, Handball Pump and Power Hose, Water Based Lubricant, Shower Strap, and Comfort Insert Pad.

I was blown away by the quality of this kit. The case is gorgeous, discreet, sturdy and very manly. It looks like something you could bring to a locker room, or like a large posh shaving kit. As soon as I saw it I had visions of the Village People singing “YMCA” while guys stroked themselves off with it in a locker room with shower stalls. I’m not sure why…

The kit has a hard shell covered by a matt, silky feeling material, all black with a large sturdy zipper. Inside there are several storage pockets and then the main case for your pump and other accessories. The carrying case is also perfect for storage, and is so discreet you could leave it out in plain sight.

The X40 Xtreme Penis Pump

The X40 Xtreme is the largest pump in the Xtreme Collection with a total length of 13.5” and an insertable length of 10.5”. The chamber’s circumference was between 9.25” at the base and narrowing to 8.25” nearest the top. It is designed for big boys (7” or more) who want to get even bigger. It is also 15% larger than the X30 Xtreme.

The clear chamber is made out of very sturdy, strong plastic and features a measuring gauge up the length of it. The base features a bellows pump made of elastomer and an insertable comfort pad made from plastic with and softer elastomer that goes against the pelvis. The bellows allows you to position the pump against the body and pull it closer for better suction.

New to the Xtreme Collection is the Hand Pump Attachment that goes on the top end of the pump. It features a tube attachment and squeeze ball which is used to suction the water from the pump once in place and creates the vacuum effect. The squeeze ball is again very sturdy, yet flexible enough that a woman can squeeze it, so you don’t have to be Hercules to use this pump. Which is great for men who may have less hand strength, or arthritis. The hand pump is detachable and comes with a 15.5” hose.

Unleash the Beast

My sweetheart of a partner Chris volunteered to be the guinea pig for this review. Thank goodness, because I don’t have a penis. I was very curious to see a pump in action though and of course helped him with the whole process.

First, you will want to run a nice hot bath. The water creates a stronger vacuum and the heat helps to relax the blood vessels in the penis.

If you have a hairy pelvis and penis, I recommend having a close shave before using any penis pump, or you will not get the seal you need for suction. We tried it first without shaving, and while it did suction, the seal kept breaking after we got it pumped up a bit.

The pump comes with Pjur water-based lubricant. While Pjur is a good lubricant, I’m not sure why they would include water-based lube with a product that is going to be used in the water, because it just dissolves. So, I would recommend a thick silicone based lubricant to create a better seal which won’t wash away in the water.

Chris unleashed his beast and we got the pump in place over his flaccid penis (leave the balls out) with squeeze bulb and hose attached. It says to use the pump when not erect or semi-erect, but you can also use it with a hard-on after you’ve gotten used to it. However, it is not meant to be a masturbation tool, but a penis enlargement device. It was easy to pump and I pumped it for him while he laid back in the tub and observed.

This was both our first time ever using a pump, so we were a bit hesitant at first. Chris was worried that we may pump it too hard, as we had heard stories about men getting bruising and even blisters when using penis pumps too aggressively. And, yes this CAN and DOES happen, so use common sense and caution when using a penis pump. Don’t over pump, or pump aggressively, or use the pump for more than 15- 20 minutes.

Our concerns were unwarranted however, and everything went smoothly. The pump was easy to squeeze and I don’t have a lot of physical hand strength, so I think just about anyone could use this easily. Once the seal was in place, the pump began sucking water from the pump and creating a strong vacuum. We watched as his penis grew with each squeeze which was fun.

We used the pump for about 15 minutes, and his penis did look a feel a bit more “pumped up” than usual. However, this effect doesn’t last long. With continued use of 15 minutes daily, Bathmate says you can permanently increase your penis size from about ½” or more in 1-3 months.

“Vacuum pumps (also called penis pumps, vacuum constriction devices or VCDs) are a useful and non-evasive way to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) over surgery, implants, injections or medications. However, it is important to discuss available treatments with your doctor first to find out which treatment is best for you. The purchase of vacuum devices for treatment of ED may also be covered by medical insurance if it has been first documented as a medical condition.

Penis pumps can be an effective treatment for ED if the underlying cause is insufficient blood flow to the penis to cause an erection. They are also an effective treatment for ED for men who have Diabetes, after surgery for colon or prostate cancer and for men who suffer from anxiety or depression. According to Webmd, “Studies suggest that about 50%-80% of men are satisfied with the results of VCDs.”–Sextoy.com Pleasure Guide

Ian Chambers from Mediplus notes “that some men may notice an increased girth with regular use of a penis pump, however, increased length beyond your natural size is unlikely. On the other hand, men who have lost length from surgery or from not getting regular erections, may see an increase to their normal length before surgery or ED, with continued use.”—Mediplus

One thing I’d like to note is that although the instructions are beautifully printed on slick sturdy paper, like a brochure, the instructions themselves were a bit hard to figure out for first time users. There are drawings showing you how to use it as well as written instructions, but I still had to read it over several times to figure it out. I don’t know, maybe I’m just dense, but I think the instructions could be better. Also, the text is white on a black background which made it a bit harder to read. But, then I’m the kind of girl who half reads the instructions, and then throws them aside and tries to figure it out myself, because I just hate instructions. Looking back, the process of putting the pump together and using it was very simple, so we over-analyzed it too much. And, it didn’t mention shaving, which I DO recommend.

Overall, this is a top of the line product. If I was in to penis pumping on a regular basis, it would definitely be my only choice for a pump. It is far superior to many of the other pumps I’ve seen and is a quality product.
