XHamster Launches “Porn for Women” Grants

XHamster, an online porn site, has launched a $25,000 grant program to fund women filmmakers who want to make “porn for women.” The idea of the contest is to grow the site’s “Porn for Women” category, which is small.

Let’s face it, what women want to see in pornos and what men want to see are often two different things. As a heterosexual, sex positive woman, I want to see super hot guys who aren’t all greased up/oily and don’t look like Ron Jeremy. I also want to see men go down on women, which often doesn’t even happen for more than two seconds in male produced porn. And although I do enjoy seeing men ejaculating, I don’t want to see them do so on women’s faces. But that’s just me. (And all of my female friends.) We spend so much time perfecting our eyeliner that we don’t want it blown out by jizz.

But a quick look at this month’s “#1 top rented or bought porn” says that “Cum Covered Faces” took the first spot. Men are obviously watching porn made by men. To confirm my thoughts on this subject, I asked porn star Jesse Jane once during an interview if she liked men coming on her face. She actually grunted with an “ugh” like she had to put up with it, and said “It’s just okay.”

What men want and women don’t.

“Over the past few years, we’ve seen the number of women coming to our site skyrocket,” says Alex Hawkins, xHamter’s Vice President. “Women make up more than a quarter of our fans but 95 percent of production is intended for a male audience. We want to launch a revolution in content made by and for women, and we want to see it on xHamster. We want to foster a porn revolution!”

XHamster will be giving out $25,000 to new and established filmmakers in the form of awards and grants, from smaller contests (sending in a short clip) for $500, to major development deals at $10,000. And the company says they won’t legally retain any content. Female performers, directors, journalists and xHamster staff will judge the submissions.

“We’re hoping to see strong Porn for Women submissions at every level of production, from homemade phone clips to sex tapes to large-scale productions,”  says Hawkins. “We’re hoping to use this fund to help better understand what women respond to, while giving them the financial incentive to create it.”

Info and application about the Porn for Women Fund are available at xHamster.com/media/women. Submissions will start being accepted Saturday, Sept. 1.
