The house used in the 1997 porn-themed movie Boogie Nights is up for sale. The movie was set in San Fernando’s “porn valley” during The Golden Age of Porn, in the 1970’s and early 80’s. The classic movie was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Burt Reynolds), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Julianne Moore), and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen (Paul Thomas Anderson). The role of porn star “Roller Girl” was also a break-out role for the then twenty something actress Heather Graham.
The house supposedly belonged to adult film director Jack Horner, played brilliantly by Burt Reynolds. (Fun fact: several prosthetic penises were designed for Mark Wahlberg’s “Dirk Diggler” porn star character.)
The house, which is actually in Covina in the San Gabriel valley, was built in 1958 and is situated on a 1.35-acre-lot, with 4,000-square-feet and a three-car garage, according to the the listing. A look at the photos looks like it hasn’t been touched since 1958. With a cool makeover — new floors and some groovy mid century modern furniture, the place would look rad. Asking price is $1.49 million.
Those were the days, of cocaine-filled parties and porn shoots.
The movie’s “porn family”.
